Victorious general, Titus, returns home with hostages: Tamora, Queen of the Goths, and her sons.  He murders the eldest to appease the dead.  He refuses the proffered crown, clearing the way for none other than Tamora to ascend to the throne.  Once empowered, she vows vengeance; setting in motion an escalating cycle of revenge from which no one can escape unscathed.
